Café Schwätzer & Söhne

The concrete counter should fit the industrial design concept of the café and therefore have a very rough and rugged appearance. The bar counter consists of two L-shaped concrete slabs, one of which lies on the counter and the second hangs around the front of the counter. The goal was to make the control block look like it was being clasped.

The concrete counter should fit the industrial design concept of the café and therefore have a very rough and rugged appearance. The bar counter consists of two L-shaped concrete slabs, one of which lies on the counter and the second hangs around the front of the counter. The goal was to make the control block look like it was being clasped.

In order to achieve the L-shape in one piece, the panels were each cast over the rear (not visible) 4cm thick edge. For the suspension at the front around the control block, threads were cast in to fix the heavy parts to the steel substructure.

Various recesses were also made, for example for disposing of coffee grounds, the built-in sink and the dishwasher basket. The entire bar has been refinished, sealed and polished. This means that stains have no chance and the surface is appropriately protected, smoothed and cared for.
